Downsizing Pain Points: The 3 Most Common

Downsizing pain points can be avoided when you know about them. Here are the 3 most common.

  1. Not getting rid of enough
If you don’t get rid of enough you will end up being cramped in your new space. This just means you will pay more to move and end up having to do it at your destination.

It’s really important to pare down as much as possible. If you don’t it’s really not much fun having to do it again and it just adds stress later on.
  2. Not setting a realistic timeline
The longer you have lived in your home the more time you need for preparation
If you are a keeper not a thrower you will need more time. If you can’t do it all yourself and need help from friends, family or a downsizing service you need to factor in more time.

Some people are able to get organized quite quickly in a few months while others that take a year or more.
  3. Waiting to long to downsize
Since most people downsize to enhance their lifestyle and choose a more manageable home, the sooner you do it the easier it is. Once you have made the decision to downsize, it doesn’t get easier the longer you wait, just more challenging.

Don't let any of these downsizing pain points affect your journey.
